Inspired by the fear that's lived in me ever since ICE raided my neighborhood on January 29, 2026, this story represents the deep, dark anxiety of knowing that ICE now has a confirmed presence near my home. It represents the dread of knowing that they can knock on my door at any moment, and the terror of knowing what that's meant for other Latinos.

The legend of "El Mico" and Izalco, El Salvador's reputation for "brujos" inspired this story. It dives into cultural pressures on women & girls in Latino culture, especially as it relates to their obligation to protect men's masculinity.

A work of flash fiction published in Cherrypicked Magazine's inaugural issue, "Change" is a story set in my hometown of Los Angeles. Written in the same night that it was originally conceived, the story aims to remind readers of the humanity they share with all, and inspire them to look kindly on others.

With prominent personification and plenty of metaphorical imagery, this story layers many themes in under 1,000 words. Originally written in Spanish, my fascination with mortality is laid bare as abstract characters exchange words with the protagonist.
